All good things …

To get what we need, we did what we must.
— Ka

Gosh, well, isn’t that a dramatic start to the final post of this adventure?

I found the artist Ka after I’d randomly come across this tribute on NTS. I listened to Honor Killed the Samurai a lot during my early training weeks. It’s a phenomenal album. Have a listen! When you’re done here of course.

So, how did it go I hear you murmur? It went well, thank you for asking.

Unfortunately, I spent the week watching the weather forecast worsen. Typical London weather for this time of year is 13-14 C, but the predicted temperature for race day was 22 C, which would put it in the top 5 hottest London Marathons on record. I don’t do well in heat, so I intentionally slowed everything down. A lot.

Yesterday I ran for 26.2 miles (5:35:41, 22 C). Definitely slower than I expected but, early on in the race, I made peace with just running slow to finish without injury, which I did.

I ran for a total of 35.37 miles this week.

So, how was it I hear you burp? Pretty extraordinary really. I’d come across this video in a Reddit forum last year, and it’s what nudged me into submitting an application to the Alzheimer’s Society to run. Everything the narrator conveyed was 💯% true. It was wild. It’s a moving watch, so have at it.

So, that’s it. Job done. After 684 miles of training, over the course of 32 weeks, having raised - with your generosity and kindness - £3393 for the Alzheimer’s Society, this little adventure comes to an end.
